That perfect teddy bear cut! Who does it best in Northern California?

Not every haircut is created equal especially on a doodle.

The haircut on your fluffy pup will make or break the look of your dog.

I have to admit I am the pickiest and am very particular.

I have had many clients call me after getting a horrible haircut in absolute tears and I explain “Its just hair and will grow back, just takes a few weeks."

Please avoid Petco and PetSmart groomers : / Most of them are new/learning/ and have no clue what they are doing. We have had some pups gets razor burn or accidentally cut there.

-ALSO would you go to super cuts and ask for bangs and some layers. I highly doubt it.

-Also YES doodle haircuts aren't cheap. We typically groom our pups every 6-8 weeks. The longer you wait the longer their hair grows and harder it gets to maintain and keep up with. A typical doodle cut is $100-150 depending on size, and every groomer has their own pricing.

-Make sure you are brushing your doodle with a good slicker brush multiple times and week and going over your work with a metal comb to make sure all knot and mats are out of their fur. IF you do not keep up with their at home grooming needs they will have to be shaved down to the skin.

Here are some of my favorite local groomers:

Sarah @Furryfarmhouse_Petgrooming

Has been my go to groomer for years. She does all of our dogs and grooms a majority of our past puppies. I am very particular on that perfect teddy bear cut and she has it down to a T. She is mobile (She comes to you) and services Rocklin, Roseville, Loomis, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Marysville area. There is the option to come to the Paddingtondoodle ranch if you are one of my past clients. She charges $120-150 depending on size. Call or text 916-770-9588.

Juan @Juansgroomroom in Elk grove He was on a show on HBO max for dog haircuts. He is one of the best out there. He cuts a few pups we know and truly is incredible. We love his work. Price is $120+ 916-896-0898

Tristian @Thepetspa_Atlaguna He grooms a few of our past puppies in Elk grove area and comes recommended by a few including our past pups mama Aileen who has Chili and Izzy

Melanie @melk.dog.grooming is located in Sacramento off Fulton Ave. She has groomed a few of our past pups and I approve her doodle cut. She charges $120-140 for bath, groom, ear cleaning, nails, photo, and treat. 916-800-6337

Breanna @Groomedbybree_ she is located in Bakersfield and is known for her Asian Fusion but is wonderful at those perfect teddy bear cuts, I also love her adorable accessories .

@Bark_and_Collar Bark N Collar Northridge California 747-224-9596

They groom our past puppy Peaches and come highly recommended

If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

DISCLAIMER THE ONLY GROOMER ON THIS LIST I HAVE PERSONALLY USED IS SARAH

ALSO please do not attempt to cut your dog yourself. I have tried many times and called my groomer to come in a hurry to fix my work. She has not banned me from touching the scissors. LOL It's a trained skill and not as easy as it looks.

-IF YOU ARE NOT LOCAL TO US AND ARE LOOKING FOR A GROOMER TIPS

  1. Look on Facebook for local doodle groups. Ask people in the group for references and/or who they LOVE

  2. If you see a doodle walking and love their haircut ask them where they take their pup and if they recommend them (That's how I found my groomer)

  3. Trial and error. Try local places and find your perfect place but please read reviews first and before going. -Bring in several photos and examples of other doodles that look similar to your pup and what you're looking for. Be very specific.

WHAT DO I ASK FOR to achieve that perfect teddy bear cut?

Extras things to ask for
